HISTORY

History
Gooramma Stud has been supplying Poll Dorset genetics to prime lamb producers for over 40 years. The Stud was founded by James Corcoran in 1970, originally trading as Terringle Poll Dorset Stud. With a rich ancestral heritage in the local area, James Corcoran has been breeding Poll Dorset sheep in the Boorowa district his entire life.

From the beginning, Gooramma has always taken a strong commercial focus when selecting rams for the breeding program. This has contributed to the strong performance of Gooramma Poll Dorsets, displaying lambing ease, rapid growth and prominent muscling. These vital traits have allowed lamb producers to gain the maximum productivity from Gooramma’s prime lamb genetics.

The Gooramma Poll Dorset flock currently includes 700 breeding ewes, allowing a high level of genetic selection to further improve the product quality for our clients. The Gooramma flock is forever expanding, utilising the very best in Poll Dorset genetics from Australia and overseas, allowing our clients access to the best genetic pool.

Gooramma has had a high level of achievement in both the Show ring and sale yards. The consistent success the Stud has had over the years strongly suggests that Gooramma genetics are the most reliable terminal sire for the prime lamb industry
